About this project

This research project is made possible by a mentored Signature Experience Research grant from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Using Alexander Standridge, my fourth great grandfather, as a case study, this research project aims to discover fresh insights into motivating factors behind individuals migrating from the trans-Appalachian west into territorial Arkansas. Alexander’s migration led him to the early Arkansas territory region that became Carrollton township, in Carroll County.

Research results will be exhibited April 11-13, 2019 at the 78th Arkansas Historical Association Annual Conference 2019 at the Grand Prairie Center in Stuttgart, Arkansas and also at the spring Research and Creative Works Showcase at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock on April 18, 2019.

If you have any information you would like to share on Alexander Standridge or the trans-Appalachian west migration, I would love to hear from you. Thank you for visiting.
